My Favorite adidas Shorts – Winning Again

Let me tell you a story about a pair of shorts.

A much younger, pre-husband, pre-kids me wandered into my graduate school’s bookstore on a fall afternoon. I wandered around the store aimlessly, because I had some time to kill before class. I spotted a pair of black adidas shorts with the school’s logo on it. I thought they looked comfortable, so I bought them.

From the first time I put them on, I loved them. They were the perfect length, had pockets, not too thick, not too thin. They were perfect. Over the years, the elastic broke and they are now held up by the drawstring on the waist. When dating my now-husband, I bumped into a wall while painting and got white paint all over the backside of them. But still, through it all, they remained my favorite shorts.

As the years wore on, they saw me through 3 pregnancies, multiple moves, and countless wears. I chased toddlers in them. I have tried so many times, to find their equal, and failed miserably.

Until now.

These basketball shorts are my new favorites. I have already worn them to multiple soccer games, because those toddlers became soccer playing kids. They’re not too short and not too long.

They have pockets!

And now I can retire my grad school shorts. Not a moment too soon, because I discovered a hole in them the other day. So, these new shorts have big shoes to fill. Speaking of shoes, well, that’s another story…stay tuned.
